Help!!! Came back from weekend, noticed wheel cap missing on Gen 1 Montero

So here is the story, I'm missing a center cap from the rear on my 1990 Montero RS. Ebay has 0 that I've seen, but seems to have a massive supply of 1991-1999 (second gen) caps. Haven't found one for sale anywhere, if anyone has an idea or is willing to part with 1 (or more) I would be grateful. Do you think I could swap the center caps for gen 2, if I also use the retaining ring from gen 2?

I'm in a bit of a pickle.

This is the part I'm missing and can't seem to find anywhere...

I did find it on ebay UK but they seem to only ship inside UK

Any Ideas?!?

Thanks,

Jonathan

look for a local hub cap shop.

Many are on line now, but the "good" ones are dark dingy places stacked floor to ceiling with an amazing assortment of stuff. The old guy/gal behind the counter will lead you through a labyrinth of aisles with a damp musty smell, walk to a shelf, look for a few seconds reach behind the Buick spinner caps and pull out exactly what you're looking for.

It can be a great adventure.

x2, those places are fun. Back in the day I needed a hubcap for my Taurus. I ended up trading the guy my three metal ones for four new generic plastic ones :)

The one pictured is for a Gen II with steel wheels (92-94 USDM). I have the Gen I piece that is equivalent. I responded to your PM.

Now that I acquired a replacement, I'm trying to figure out what happened to it. I don't think it fell off, because when those things snap on they are held in pretty solid... And they both stayed in the entire weekend I went 4x4 in dirt, mud, water a few months back.

I've seen 2 other 1st gen Monteros around town, maybe one of those guys were also missing a center cap and made off with mine...

I thought the chances of someone actually wanting to steal a center cap was pretty low.

Just thinking out loud.
