Help - Looking for campfire back/butt warmer

Not sure what to call this but is fits under most folding chairs and reflects back the heat from the fire to your back and butt. I think of this quite often especially on those late fall desert trips when huddled around the fire wondering if my rear is ever going to be as warm as my shins and knees.

I saw this once on the web but can't find it again. It was green at the ends and a shiny metal in between. Rolled up neatly for storage, about 1-2 inch roll by 2 feet wide or so. Priced around $19.99 each. Should have bookmarked it.

This gadget could also be used as a reflector in an emergency situation.

Anyone know of a website carrying this gadget or what it is called?

When I read the thread title I thought you were looking for a traveling companion :)

No thanks JC! In your dreams! I am happily married.

So did I.

Also, are you sure that thing is worth the giggles that will be directed towards you at camp? :victory:

You guys are so complimentary, thank you! You will have to come out on one of my trips and you can huddle with one of the dogs. As you all freeze your butts off, I will be toasty!

When I was on the Triple Desert Trip in Nov/09, I remember how cold my rear/back was and everyone else saying similar. Then at KOFA in late November, I remember everyone bundled and huddled around the fire but their butts and backs were cold. Hence my search for this creature comfort and continuing my glampering.

Hey, did you ever buy this thing and try it out? I'm curious to know if it provided much additional heat.

Yes I did get one and it works great! The one draw back is that needs looking after so much and that one has to be prepared to move it and the chair as the smoke keeps after you. Also the rock ring should be quite low otherwise it blocks the heat closer to the ground.

Thanks, Canuck! Maybe I'll get one for my son's girlfriend. On our last trip she was so cold that she actually let both of my dogs (RR and Weimaraner) pile on top of her. I wish I had taken a picture! I'm amazed that old Coleman chair was able to hold all of them :)

A couple of years ago I was on a Rubicon trip with some guys from NorCal.
This big foreign dude motioned me over to the fire and offered me his chair.
It was like a little slice of heaven.

He was using a Coleman Black Cat heater aimed at the chair from the back. If you want to be comfortable around the campfire on a cold night this is the ultimate solution.
