help please GP NGP cb antenna on fiberglass slide in

So, need to be able to remove my huge slide in camper without having to pull coax from radio each time. Right now have a ngp ant with the 18 foot ngp cable ready to mount on the camper. I thought it could mate to a regular coax coming from the radio. I guess that won't work??? Want to disconnect and remove camper and then connect to a roof mounted mag base ant on my pickup when the camper is off. No viable place to mount an ant except on the camper when in on the truck. So, should I return the ngp ant kit and go with paired ants on the camper? Regular ant on the camper with the mount grounded to the pickup frame? Or??? I'm lost. Thanks for any help folks.

What about putting a PL-259/SO-238 connector on the coax and breaking it there?

I have a regular high quality coax I want to run from the radio. It has the connectors, but I was told I can't mate it to the ngp coax. Guess I don't know why as the 18' ngp coax wouldn't be altered, unless a ngp coax must go all the way to the radio. I just don't know. I'm lost.
