Help this weekend?

I'm stretching the body and frame of my YJ this weekend to the length of an unlimited (+ 15in) and I could use a few extra hands. I dont expect to get all the bodywork done this weekend, but I think it plenty doable to get the frame stretch done and get the body prepped.
I have all the tooling needed (welder, compressor, hand, power and air tools , ect..) and I can provide water/sodas :coffeedrink: and burgers :chef: to those interested.

Weather should be great for wrenching!

Oh I'll have pics for sure, I picked up the steel for the frame extension today and I will pickup the tub section from the local Jeep yard tomorrow.

Its a 1994.



Funny thing about that, this is the third Jeep I've owned.

First was a BLACK, 1994, XJ (2-door, 6.5in long-arm, 33's, armored)
Second was BLACK, 1994, MJ (Fully loaded Eliminator 4x4, stolen)
And now a BLACK, 1994 YJ, seeing a trend here? My insurance company is still totally confused,:Wow1:

Ha, that's funny mine was that they ended in a 7 (well, my MD license ended in 007, so who knows )
at one point I had:

2007 JK Rubicon (Rescue Green)
1997 TJ (Moss Green)
1967 Jeep M725 (OD Green/ Forest Green)

Still have the last 2, was huting for a 77 CJ and a 87 YJ to round things out.

Too bad your a little too far away for me this weekend. That's the sort of project I've been itching to wrench on since I closed my shop down last year

I cut a 72 CJ5 in half and stretched it 20" It went well with no surprises. One thing you need to know that is every swinging %#^% in the world that sees your rig will look down the side too see how straight is then prove that they can tell just the spot you cut and stretched it. On mine I didn't care but my body shop buddy who helped me wanted to make sure it looked great for that reason. He was right. Everybody eyed down the side body then inspected the frame. I was glad we spent some time on the small details but we left one tiny weld glob on the inside of the tub that I always wish we would have smoothed before painting. We used thick under coat on the frame and it looked perfect. Basically on a jeep you have a flat floor and flat sides so all we scraped from a donor vehicle was the top tub rails. I left the cage in and cut the Jeep then rolled the rear back 20" We modified the cage to hit the new floor because it used to rest on the fender wells. We used a thicker floor to stiffen the longer tube. Break,fuel,wires and drive shaft was basically all that was left. Looking back it was simple. We had good jack stands and shims to square eveything up to do the frame then built the tub. We never unbolted the tub from the frame but we did need to cut the tub and frame offset from one another to make it all work. Good luck with your build. Nothing drives as well as a stetched jeep and that thing will be a the hill climbing master with that wheel base.
