UPDATE: SOLD SOLD SOLD TO A LOCAL BUYER

I'm probably going to regret this, but I need space and cash for other projects so here goes an amazing opportunity for someone.

Up for sale is 1 of the only 3 legendary shells originally built by Safari Vehicles Manufacturing of BC. This is the vehicle manufacturer that originally built the TurtleV among other vehicles. Only two of these were ever offered for sale as the owner kept the 3rd for his Unimog. The construction is very similar to that used in the shell of the earthroamer using fiberglass balsa and then another layer of fiberglass. These shells cost over 25k each to build.

Only the shell is for sale, no windows or interior are available but door and latch hardware are included.

This is a once in a blue moon opportunity for someone to build an extremely high quality expo camper at a fraction of the cost. The shell has been stored indoors the whole time I've owned it and is currently in Los Angeles Ca.

For more info please see mhiscox's post here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/foru...pedition-Cabin

Price is $3200. PM me if interested.

Turns out I'm the "expo member" whose words, photos and Picasa account are being appropriated to sell this.

It's a nice piece of cored fiberglass, not really reproducible at any practical price. It'll take some body work and a coat of paint (preferable not Unimog Ag Green) to make it presentable, but if it's the sort of camper you aspire to have, buy it, because it's not like you're going to come across a similar alternative. It's just been a shame, though, that every one of the people who has owned it has plundered their share of the goodies off it. When I first owned it, it was pretty close to a finished product, complete with solar panel, windows, toilet, cabinets, etc., and now it's just a hulk. Price is somehow higher, though. Damned inflation.

Anyone serious about this will probably want to look at my sale thread here:

http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/27257-Very-High-Quality-Molded-Expedition-Cabin

for some additional information beyond what's been cut and pasted here.

One other thing to know is that the shell is wider than the average flat deck car trailer, so it's somewhat harder to transport than you might first think, plus there are no wheels or skids on it. The best move we did was with a landscape equipment trailer with a ramp and winch and a bunch of timbers to drag it on.

I've been through the build thread and still have a few questions i couldn't find answers to:

1. what are the interior dimensions? I'm 6'1", and looking for something i can stand up in
2. do you know the weight?
3. what attachment points are there for mounting it on a chassis; i'm looking at an F-350 or similar
4. do you know what the costs are for the windows, since they will obviously need to be replaced
5. the interior is stripped, but what is still in place in terms of wiring, holding tanks, other hardware etc

Thanks
