Been lurking for a few years, so i figured I'd say hello. Here is a pic and/or two pics of my (3rd) Montero I've had for a few months. I'll be replacing the lash adjusters and valve seals pretty soon after I gather the parts (bad knockage). Happy to finally come out of my shell and I'm looking forward to sharing whatever adventures I happen to... advent... in the future...

Sorry for the substandard iphone pics. I'll get some better shots this weekend.

Hello airbox,
Welcome to the forum. Your truck is really nice. I like it a lot. I went through the process of replacing those seals on my truck back in April. I wanted to provide you the links on the procedures I used to accomplish this myself. Your engine is different than mine obviously so this will give you a good idea what you are in for. While you are at it, you may want to consider new head cover gaskets, spark plugs, cables and coil packs.

Hey thanks Jay Ayala!

Great videos, it helped me decide that I can tackle it myself (I've done valves on an LS motor, way back, so I remember the precautions part). I had bought a few parts from rock auto, but I discovered last night that the PR-spec 2.5gen Montero comes with the 6g72 3.0L engine, not the 6g74. So now I have to go figure out if all the parts that I had bought will fit. The valve cover gasket set and the valve stem seal set have already been delivered. Does anyone know if the valve cover gaskets for a 6g74 will fit a 6g72? The part number was the same, and I'm going with the assumption that means they're the same product?
