I wonder if this is the same Pinz that suffered broken axles on a
weekend trail run in SoCal recently. I'll try to find the link. The
truck with the axle problems was still painted in Red Bull colors.

Do you remember why ... failure to unlock the diffs or something ? ? ?

That max cruising speed would drive me crazy on the highway. When I finally hit pavement I want to get where I'm going next as fast as possible.

Yeah - I know that they spent a lot of money trailering it from event to event, too slow and cumbersome to make the trip on its own. But of course the events were always scheduled pretty tight, not on an 'explorers time table'.

I dunno...

$30K for a vehicle with an air-cooled carbureted engine no matter what the mods are seems insane... Those things are total dogs at altitude...

Excusrion companies run them out in the San Juans and they constantly vapor lock and die mid-trail holding up the whole show for hours.

Whoever buys it best better live at sea level...

I think it says it's now fuel injected running Motec Engine Management.

Depending on the model of Motec, that could be a $10k setup alone.

I don't know ANYthing else about Pinz' though, so it still seems rich to my blood.

Yup, I did not read the whole thing.

I know they look cool and can do some good obstacle climbing. I've just spent more darn hours cursing the stuck Pinzgauer blocking the trail in front of me that I guess I see one and immediately scoff :)
