Home Made Drip Edge

There is a common issue with nearly every jeep wrangler known to man, the dread leaking around the door or windows issue. With the arrival of spring, We've removed the hard doors and installed the bestop soft doors and with the rainy season under way.. I thought I better do something about this puddle of water in the floorboard and fast.

My idea was to place some sort of weather stripping along the flat surface of the door surround. This weather stripping, L shaped was acquired via the local Home Depot. Along with double sided tape. I placed this weather stripping above the soft doors but below the roof line.

Not very attractive, but it has diverted any water off the roof for the last 3 months during winter. The idea was that the roof line didn't extended out beyond the soft doors. By adding these L shaped channels to the surround, they extend out the drip zone so that any water from the roof doesn't flow back into the jeep, which happen all the time with the hard doors and 10x worse with the soft doors.

The newer wranglers don't have this drip edge or even plastic tabs which fold under and into the door sounds. The soft top looks like it simply lays on top of a door surround. Although this addition has not been tested with our hard doors.. it has proven successful for the soft doors. We're almost tempted to replace the damaged carpeting and drain plugs.
