I used the wet sand trick on a car when I had no recovery gear, it worked, but is not optimal. If you are going to PINS... don't worry, you can probably find most of the above debris on the beach, and use it for traction. We found a deer carcass... that might work! :snorkel:

The best stuff in this thread mostly comes from 7wt: if you get bogged down, stop, let air out, and don't dig yourself into a hole. If that doesn't work, use traction improving devices. If that doesn't work, start running wildly down the beach waving your hands in the air... somebody will come along soon! :)

If you plan on staying parked for a few days, you may want to put a wheel or two on some debris to begin with, to reduce the effect of wind digging out around your tires and making a small dune in front of them. I didn't always have 4wd, and have always liked to explore! :ylsmoke:

Ditto. Think 5-8 PSI.

Be careful not to turn the wheels too much until you get air back in them. Driving a tire off the bead would make matters worse with sand getting in there too. Not insurmountable, but just adds to the work you'll have to do.

i always carry a spare and a can of started fluid and a lihter will take care of the broken bead

3ftx3ft anti fatigue mat for $20. Could be cut into 2 1.5x3ft pieces

I bought the 3'x3' mat at Lowes today. It looks perfect. It's soft, flexible, and heavy. If you lean it against something, it can't really support itself. But I think it should still distribute the force of a tire on sand. I think it weighs about 30lbs. I'm not sure if I should cut it in two or three pieces.

ya they have a mat like that in front of the gym at my school so one day i was like hhmm i wonder. i would cut it in to three pesonaly it will look nicer but eather way let me know how it turns out and if they work

I think I'll cut it in two. Yeah, it won't look as good but I think the extra width will be helpful. Also, it's easiest to cut along a row of holes.

This weekend

I drove here

22° 1'18.87"N

58°56'4.79"E

It was rather sandy

A rubber mat- wood-the door mats will all work to some degree......

once or twice.

One section of this trip took 2.5 hrs to travel 1 km :Wow1:

A full post to follow after I've uploaded the pics and will start another thread.

None of the listed home mades would have lasted the first 1KM off of the first track.

This truck had tents- gear and food for 5 people for 4 days.

a shingle would have lasted one revolution of the tire
