I just dropped my price from $10,500 to $9999. This price is extremely firm. Don't even bother trying to haggle.
You know you want to buy this Honda Element. You probably want to buy it for that teenager of yours who is begging for a car but you're concerned about safety and whether they'll get suspended or thrown out of school for doing donuts in the middle of a football field if you bought them a sweet 1970 Mustang Mach 1.
You can't do donuts in this car! Well you probably can but I have the feeling it would be horribly unsatisfying.
It's green! It has 2 real doors and two half doors and a rear opening thingy.
And before you read too much further note that this is a 5-speed. You have to actually interact with the car and use your hands to choose proper gears. It's a skill that everyone should have, really, but most don't. So if you, or your teenaged kid has this car they will instantly be cooler than everyone else. Driving a manual means you're better than people that don't. Ask any car magazine.
BONUS: If you teach your kid to drive a manual none of their friends will be able to borrow their car or drive it around while your kid gets crazy drunk in the back seat with all his (or her) friends. They'll have to stay sober to drive the thing so you can let them go to any party they want. Guarantee they won't be able to even get it out of first gear if they're inebriated. That alone is worth the purchase price.
It's the EX model, too, so it has some crazy Japanese all wheel drive system. 2 wheel when in normal driving, 4 wheel when it starts slipping. You don't have to do anything, not even push a button. It does it itself! Magic! And it has anti-lock brakes. It's safe!
It also has the sunroof. Of course being an Element you have three choices. Close it. Crack it open, or remove it completely. Yes it has to come out manually. I take it out for about 9 months out of the year and just leave it out. People worried about thievery may not wish to do this but who wants to steal an Element? I guess if you left it out and you had cursed at a homeless guy or something he could crawl in it and pee in it so maybe you don't want to leave it out all the time.
Or if you have alley cats.
It just had brakes on all four corners so you won't have to do that forever. 60,000 mile service was just completed as well. And it's a Honda. With only 70,000 miles (less actually). How many cars do you know that only have 70,000 miles? I'll answer: Brand new ones less than 2 years old. Antique ones that were bought and put in a garage and your grandmother's 1984 Cutlass that she only drives to church. This thing hasn't even broken 100,000 miles. In Honda-speak this car is begging to be driven. It's bored. It probably isn't even performing as well as it can yet.
Oil changes regularly. It's from 2004 so it has some door dings here and there. It has mag wheels and some of the chrome plating is coming off but you have to look for it. Tires still have plenty of life.
The seats come out, too. Or fold flat into two beds (your kid will love this. You won't, but your kid will). Seats in. Seats out. Seats folded up. One seat out, one in. One flat, one upright. You can choose!
The front seats have some wear. I was going to put covers on it but I figured the new owner should choose those. If you want I'll buy them for you. You buy the car and I'll order the seat covers. I'm trustworthy. I'll totally do it.
And just how amazing is it? I had friends visit from NYC around NYE. We went to Julian and got stuck in an ice storm. Not a snow storm, but an ice storm. People were sliding all over the place. Jacked up 4 wheel drive trucks were useless. Front wheel drive cars were useless. Rear wheel drive cars...well they did nothing but sit in place in shame.
This thing however? I came down that mountain like aces. Someone would slide into the ditch and I'd pass them. Someone would hit their brakes and slide into the car in front of them and I'd just go around them. The car didn't even slide (thanks 4 wheel drive! Thanks anti-lock brakes! (and thanks to me for being an amazing driver).
Has a great (stock) stereo with a CD player.
IT IS A 5-SPEED MANUAL. Don't show up and look at the stick in the middle of the console and the third pedal and ask me if they make it fly or not. It's how you drive it.
I can take pictures of seriously interested parties and send them to them but it looks like an Element. Edit: I added pics.
Less than 70,000 miles! Safe! 5-speed makes you better than other people. Teens will love that fact because they do anything to set themselves above their peers! Plus you can have bonding moments teaching them not to stall it in empty parking lots.
Bonus is it doesn't go 150 mph so at best they'll only get a speeding ticket for 95 or something. And your insurance will be cheap.
My price is firm, too. And it is fair. Remember it's the EX model which is the best one they made and it has only 70,000 miles. And new brakes. And because I drove it it is endowed with a real sense of cool.
Buy my Element! Currently there's a 2003 EX with 83,000 miles for sale on CL San Diego for $10,499. For $500 less you get one newer year plus 13,000 fewer miles. What a deal! Plus I'll have it cleaned and detailed.
Surf car. Beach car. Mountain car. Hauling stuff car. Camping out inside car. Drive in movie car. It's like a Transformer. It is what you make it.
