How are the new Zeon-10-S winches doing?

After a lot of research we're looking at the Zeon 10-S in the multi-mount for our 2500 Ram/Hawk. I know we're a tad bit under the "1.5 rule" (Truck and camper loaded run around 7,500#) but I have sheaves, etc and can't find multi-mounts over 10,000#.

I want the multi-mount since the wife and I run solo and want to be able to pull us out backwards when and if needed. (To be honest we are super conservative and the winch will probably never be used. But peace of mind can be priceless!)

So could I get the "word on the street" from this group on the Zeon 10-S? Are there any issues out there I should be aware of on this model? Thanks in advance.

I would rather have a larger winch, 12 or 15k, and give up the perceived benefit of a multi mount. In a real emergency, you can actually winch backwards with a winch on the front, by running the cable under the axles and out the back. Yes, it will scratch the bottom of your bumper and the bottom of your axles, but if you are wheeling in a place that requires you to winch backwards, they will have already been scratched! I have had winches for years mounted on front and multi mounted, and used the rear mount exactly one time. That was in the little sluice on the Rubicon trail.

The winch is not bad. The mount is fine. The application is bad yes a small winch is better than no winch. You will want a 12k or better I have a 12 on my superduty and its marginal at best. Buy a 12k or better find a welded who will build you a mount. I built one for my dad that uses a hitch and 2 side mounts. This allows him to safely use 1 winch on his jeep and his motorhome.

But with my 12 on my superduty I feel its the smallest I would mount. Back in the day I had a 8274 (8000) warn winch on my f250 it worked great but I rairly used it to winch my truck.

There are many places you can comprise but not a winch for me its like brakes. You buy one for safety and security why not spend the mony to be truly secure. That one time you need it and it over heats due to over stress your still stuck and out 1200 bucks.

This combination grosses just over 10k

Cradle mounted 9500# Milemarker has been working for us. Nothing hardcore, just some help getting through or out of a stuck. We don't push limits much. I too carry a sheave , straps, and clevis' to rig a recovery. The Avalanche alone is 6700#. I do have that going for me. In a pinch I can drop the trailer and recover it separately.
Sorry I have nothing to add about that brand or model of winch. If you decide it is not for you, it could be retired to a trailer, or sold fairly easy I suspect. Seems like not much to lose.
