How did you find your M416?

I'm on the lookout for an M416 trailer to build as a mild offroad camping rig. My plans are to refurbish, seal, and paint the whole thing, add some suspension clearance, bigger wheels and tires to match my truck, and fab a lid with a rack and rooftop tent. It's all hoop dreams at this point until I can get the funds and land a base trailer, but I like to plan things out beforehand.

I'm curious where most of you guys are finding these trailers for sale, and I'd like to hear what the initial purchase price was. I'm hesitant to use Ebay so I usually stick to Craigslist but haven't had any luck finding anything more than cheap utility trailers. I've seen some awesome builds on here that have really given me some great ideas, keep up the good work guys. :victory:

I have one for sale in GA, needs a restoration, but is nice and solid, with a lot of surface rust. IF noone buys as is I am doing a full resto with my neighbor

The two that I've bought I found on Craigslist.
Make sure you search for key words other than m416 like Mark Harley said. Neither one of mine were listed as an m416. One was listed as a utility trailer and the other as a military trailer.
They tend not to last too long so search Craigslist often!
Good luck with your search!

I drove past mine for 4-5 years. The last year, I noticed it just sat, and hadn't been used (before that, it would be gone, or parked different)

One day, I saw the owner pulling in his driveway in his Jeep TJ. I pulled a U-turn in my CJ, introduced myself, and started talking Jeeps.

I asked if he was interested in selling his M416. Next day I bought it, for $275!

I found my dad's sitting along the road, had been for sale all winter, 2 miles from his house. It was on a road we rarely drove, so we never saw it. Got a tip from one of my dads friends, he saw mine and said there was one like it for sale on the next road over.

I drove that way on my way home, wrote down the number and asking price ($250). Called and offered him $100, he took it!

That one needed some work, but is solid.

Craigslist, or forums like this, Steel Soldiers, CJ2A Page (and 3A page, and 3B page) are good places to look.
