How hard is really to put gen 2 to axle into gen 1

While getting my tires rotated today we noticed that both hubs on my my rear axle were wet. I guessing at 279,000 miles the rear seals are done. I have some gen 2 trailing arm sitting in the garage that I'm going to have put on along with ome springs and I was wondering if I should find a gen 2 axle with the locker and have that done at the same time. Keep in mind that I will be having my mechanic do it as with a new baby and work I just don't have time to take on a project. Do I need a locker? Probably not but my land cruiser had a front and rear and while I only used them a few times its always nice to have when you need them. How hard would it be to replace my rear seals if I stayed with the gen 1 axle I have?

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
The Gen 2 rear axle just bolts in, the locker is 2 wires, a pump and a switch plus one more wire if you want a "locker light". If you're paying a shop to swap your trailing arms it's like an hour more labor to swap the axle, any joker can wire up a switch and pump.

Oh right, forgot about that. The pinion flange you want is 1996+, thanks for the reminder.
