Hub conversion help

I have been lurking here for several months now. I really want to build an expo trailer since my CJ-5 is lacking in room. All that to say, I have the opportunity to buy a '91 M101 A for cheap. One of my questions was if I would be able to swap the 8 lug hubs for a 5 lug like I have on my CJ. What kind of work would it take to swap out the hubs, or is there an adapter i can buy? Either way I am probably going to buy it but I just wanted to be able to use my trailer wheels as spares if i needed to. Thanks for the help....

Very easy to do the conversion, just the same thing you do when packing the bearings, except you put it back together with the new hub assy. Southwest Trailer Parts (and likely other vendors) has these available in commonly used patterns like for the Jeep.

This is also a good time to adjust the parking brake, if you plan to maintain this feature. Very handy to have. Soak the release handle, etc in some rust-penetrant for a day or so before dealing with it will make things easy.

The M101 list on Yahoo groups is a handy resource. You can get a copy of the manual there, although there's nothing too complex about it, but always good to know where the instructions are when you need them.:coffee:

I have 5 lug hubs for a CJ, and 15" rims with 34.x" Super Swamper TSL tires on my trailer, that don't match my rig. I'd be willing to sell them! My hubs are about 3 years old, without very many miles on them.
