Husky 2250 Watt Generator

Anyone have any reviews for the following generator:

Husky 2250 Watt Generator, model #HU22511

We were thinking of using this generator as a back up for the fidge at home if ever the power goes out. Also, take it on the camping trips that have developed camping spots with no electrical outlets. Otherwise, camping on the trail I normally just bring my 1000W inverter and use that.

I haven't seen that one, but it's loud. The green 1000w one they sell is a lot more interesting. $300 and quiet.

Compared to the Honda EU2000 it's about 6 decibels louder and about 12 decibels louder compared to the EU3000 at load. Could the difference be that much louder? The one you mention is also rated at 59 decibels at rated load.

The one you linked says it's 71db, which is definitely loud for a camping generator these days. That's just a little bit quieter than the typical noisy generator. That would be fine at an RV park during generator time. In a quieter no power campground you would be one of the noisier residents. I do like that three year warranty.

If you're tent camping I'm not sure what you would do with 2200 watts. Maybe a laser light show? :)

The comments on the little green one is that it's louder than the EU2000 even though it rated about the same at 59db. I expect all the inexpensive generators are "optimistic" in their noise numbers compared to Honda and Yamaha.

Neither are inverter generators, but that probably doesn't matter much for your use. A 1000w generator with some surge capacity will start almost all newer refrigerators. 2000w+ might make more sense for a home power failure generator, however.

Great points! Thanks for the comments. I definitely would want to avoid being labeled one of those "loud campers". As far as a laser light show, that would be interesting. LOL!!!

I think I'll keep my eye out for a honda or yamaha.

I may go with that inexpensive 1000 watt unit as a temporary generator for my new camper. Like you I'm not exactly sure what I want. On the bigger end I'm considering an electric start 3000 watt H or Y that I can semi build in and start or stop from within the camper. But I would be fine with a quiet 2000 watt unit too.
Too many choices.
