Hydraulic winches front and rear

Has anyone considered, or actually installed, hydraulic winches both front and rear, utilizing a single power source?

I have fitted many milemarker hydraulic winches to 4x4's which runs of the power steering pump, they run very slow as most power steering pump's are to small in capacity, a PTO pump would be the ideal!!

YEP. I've done 3 trucks that way. All used 12,000 lb Cut Snake winches which come with an electric pump. Worked really well .....only a little slow but otherwise no problem. Seemed to bypass oil rather than pull too much current if really loaded.

The guy doesn't make them anymore.....shame.

And of course you would only use one source..........why would you use 2? The valving is easy enough...not cheap but cheaper than another pump and PTO mount/drive.

Setting up a front..........

The pump at the top is for the winches along with the 2 smaller valve bodies . The same pump also powers the hydraulic spare wheel and trailbike rack. The big pump and manifold with the 8 lines coming from it in the middle was for a hydraulic levelling / jacking system.

The rear of the same truck.

And here's a pump on the 3rd truck.

See the little quick connect oil couplings........had planned to make a hydraulic HiLift but never got around to it....one day.

I had front/rear hydraulic winches on my 88 Ford F350, run off a pump off a PTO off the ZF 5 spd. The front was a Braden worm drive, the rear a Pierce worm drive converted from electric to hydraulic.
My current Unimog U500 has front DP 20AJ, rear Superwinch 15K both off the factory hydraulic pump.
