I can't believe it's mine!

Summer 2016 my wife and I saw a Delica for the first time in Victoria BC. We were in love...

...with the van.

Delica's had become a regular Craigslist search for the past year. Many were posted, many were passed over. Until mid-April. That's when I came across this:

I loved the black and white paint; the wheels were perfect... and those over-sized yellow lights up front...mmm, perfect! BUT it wasn't in the cards for my family. I emailed the owner of the listing to say to tell them that their van was amazing and that was the end of it. Or so I thought...

I showed the listing to my wife and she said "Ooo, I'd drive that". So that sealed it! I pursued the van, and learned as much as I could about the import process and went for it! (Needless to say we have a '03 Merc Sprinter and amazing condition Volvo 245 for sale now).

A couple of weeks went by and I was riding a train up to Richmond BC to meet Sabbir from Maxoverdrive.ca to see his personal Delica...and hopefully to buy it and drive it home. When I saw Sabbir drive into the hotel parking lot to pick me up I knew the van would be mine...it is incredible!

Sabbir has owned a business in Richmond for the past 14 years where he works on Japanese imports and sources parts for others. He had fixed MANY things on his Delica including a brand new motor and paint job along with many other restored features. The van is not a full restoration, but like Sabbir said he tried to fix everything that is common to go wrong with these vans.

The vans new motor was still in the "break-in" phase so I had to drive the van all the way home at 50 mph, but I didn't mind because I was in the nicest Declia I have ever seen and I still can't believe it is mine!

Check out the Delica Canada forum. Lots of like minded owners there.

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh....deep breath, that is beautiful!! Looking forward to more pictures that might convince my wife that she doesn't hate "mini vans".

And is it gas or diesel? Did the RHD setup take some getting used to?

It is a diesel. The RHD really didn't take that long to get used to, really by the end of the test drive I felt pretty used to it. The hardest thing about it was the blinker being on the right side. I'm constantly turning on the wipers when I want to turn left.
