I just wanted to introduce myself, first post.

I been absorbing all the great information that’s posted on this site and I figured it was time to introduce myself. So hello! This is a pic of my 10y/o 1984 CJ7. It has gone through a metamorphosis over the past year and she's getting close to being finished. I've never been into the rock crawling scene, just point A to B basic camping with an occasional long run.
My last big trip was up through "Saratoga Springs Road" now called "Henry Wade Rd", if I remember correctly. My wife and I continued through the south end of Death Valley up past Bad Water with a 3 day “gift” stop at the Furnace Creek Inn. That was my 7th trip to Death Valley. The long trips are on hold for now as we just a beautiful little baby girl a few months ago. I'm starting to plant the seeds of thought with the other half and one quarter, for many winter trips to come after it cools down a bit.
My wife calls my CJ a "Christmas Tree" but few more additions such as lighting, sliders, and comms will round out my expenditures. So I just wanted to say greetings and hope to meet some of the local San Diego, Socal group and beyond when the opportunity arises. Thanks.

Welcome from a fellow San Diegan ExPo member. Nice CJ. When the weather cools down in the desert again, we'll have to get another Meet and Greet/Day Run together. That was fun. :D :safari-rig:

Welcome to ExPo -

The '84 CJ-7.... my personal favorite Jeep and the most fun vehicle I've ever owned. Made my first trip to DV in it and still cherish the memories. Wish I still had it....

Nice set-up.

Thanks for the compliments and warm welcome. BigAl, I'll post a few more of the swing-away tire carrier after work. I just picked her up this morning after having all the new roll cage tubing upholstered and padded. Gear, I've been following your progress, your jeep is just bad ***! I hope I can attend a meeting or go on a run some day with everyone. We can put down a few cold ones and talk Jeep!

Who said we don't have enough room for extra gear on a Jeep? This is the CJ in "Vagabond Off Road Traveler Mode" loaded for long range. The swing-away tire carrier is from http://www.rockhard4x4parts.com/rearbumper.html as well as the cage. Security drawer from Tuffy, with a few essential off road items as seen, SlimJims, a French press, and "R" version Steiners (not kept in the Jeep!).

When I was younger, I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in the "Big Brother Program" in N.C. I just so happened to have 2 big brothers, over 4 years, that had CJ7s. Riding around with the top off in 4 wheel hi, low, ect., had a tremendous impression on me as a little kid. Me sitting in that open seat with no doors and top, heading off to some great weekend adventure, was a time I recollect often. Fast forward 15 years and I'm driving down El Cajon Blvd in an 89' RX7 and I pass a used car lot of all places. I see this old 84' CJ7 barricaded 12 cars deep in the lot.
I stop to take a second look, its perfect, almost zero rust, CA born, only slightly modified with tube bumpers all around and an oversized roof rack. List price $5000. I left with the nostalgic desire to delve into the adventures of my younger years. Fast forward again, 9 months later. I drive back down the same street and see the same old Jeep pushed a little further back on the lot. I've got the money now and it is time to claim that old CJ7, after 9 months of "Charlie Brown Luck", as my personnel property... The CJ, YJ, TJ, JK, is an American Icon to be cherished. If you happen to cross paths with one, hold on to it. I see it like your Dads old 30.06 rifle. Un-nameable and sometimes irreplaceable... I hope I can meet some of you on a local or distant trail when the time comes.
