Ok, you guys are my last best hope. I started having issues with my 05 TJ auto trans. It would stick in 2nd or 3rd gear when I came to a stop. I could manually shift it to low and it would shift in slowly though. Or I could floor it, and it would eventually kick down. It is inconsistent though, doesn't happen all the time. It only happens when it is warmed up. So I took it to a trans shop. They told me it was the ECM/PCM causing the problem (I should mention the "check engine light was on, and the codes were saying trans and 02 senser). So, after a bit of a challenge, we found a new computer for the Jeep, and that took care of the CE light, but not the trans problem. So months later, I took it back to the Transmission shop, and they said the trans needs to be rebuilt. So they did that. That did not solve the shifting problem. Like I said, it didn't happen all the time. And I should also mention that towing my jeep trailer didn't make it any worse. So I took it back to the trans shop, and now they tell me that it is because the trans is running to hot (240 after a short drive), so they said I needed an oil cooler, because the temp coming out of the radiator was not much different than going in (they suspect it was blocked or something). I had replaced the stock radiator with a Champion aluminum radiator. I have not checked the lower tank for a blockage yet, but they bypassed the tank all together so it shouldn't matter. So after all that, and almost $4,000.00 later, I still have the same problem. So what else can I do? Replaced: ECM/PCM, rebuilt the trans, installed external trans oil cooler. What am I missing? Has anyone had an experience like this? Please help!
