I would like wider fenders for M416

Failing find ing a source for those you might see if any metal vendors in your area do fabrication work. Might be easiest to just have some made as that shape wouldn't be too hard to duplicate. The 3 pieces to form my semi-ARB front bumper, in 10 ga., were $200 about 8 years ago and that included the price of the steel. I'd expect that fenders (less complicated shape, thinner mat'l) would be about the same now.

Sorry, guys, I must have missed this one the first time around! As Feileod pointed out, I replaced the stock fenders on my M416 with wider custom ones. I wanted them to serve two purposes:
1. Accomodate the wider tires/axle.
2. Stand up to trail abuse better than the stock ones.
JK Customs in Hutto, TX built them for me about 5 years ago, and they've held up well. I've actually been thinking of having them make me another set that incorporates a mount for a propane tank and offers some protection to the fuel cans mounted on the sides of my trailer.

I used these, to cover 33" tires, cut around 8" off the length on each side and spread them about 1/4" at each corner.

I actually just started some custom fenders today, I will post up a few pics tomorrow. I just bend square tubing and I will skin them with 16ga steel.

Here is the route I am heading. I am going to add two spreaders that will determine the width of the fenders and then skin them in sheet metal. Not too hard if you know someone with a bender and the right die. I used 1" tubing in 16ga.
I will fit them before trimming up the ends to length. Lots to do before then

First, I had to figure out where I wanted them, so will some scrap steel and a few levels I was able to mock up where I wanted them go.
That made easy work of marking where to cut.
Then I layed them out and marked where I would weld in a few stringers to span the gap. I decided to make the fendres a full 14" wide, and at that width they will fully cover the treads to keep the rocks at bay.
First, I had to figure out where I wanted them, so will some scrap steel and a few levels I was able to mock up where I wanted them go.

Then I layed them out and marked where I would weld in a few stringers to span the gap. I decided to make the fendres a full 14" wide, and at that width they will fully cover the treads to keep the rocks at bay.

Next up was drilling 8 .25" holes to mount them to the sheet metal sides.
Then I added two .75" square tubing to span the gap. Just remember that these two stringers have to be perfectly square or your sheetmetal won't sit flush and it will look like crap. I had to recut one weld due to warping and try again. I won't complete the welds until I can check the fit with some sheet metal.
Then it was time to mock them up on the frame. I have about 3.5" of clearance all the way around. I think they will work just fine. I will add a small shelf in front and behind the fender and that will provide a few more mounts to the frame as well.
The stringers will also be good places to bolt a few things down, maybe an ax or shovel, or even the tongue jack when on trails.
