inagural 80 trip

I don't know what you were driving before the 80, but when I made the switch I never looked back. Even at 18 years old, with minimal maintenance, mine has performed superbly.

Congrats!

On the the hi-lift mount, in the apst, I have cut a hockey puck in half, drilled a hold through the center, and used these as my "isolators". They compress just enough to keep the jack from rattling around and are cheap and easy.

I was in a bone stock 2004 Discovery. A capable vehicle to be sure, but nothing like this. I have a feeling it will be a while before I am looking to part ways with my 80. :victory:

That hockey puck idea is really clever! Thanks

Welcome to the "EIGHTIES!" Love mine and while not yet put together as yours, it's still fun! Cleghorn, yep! Good fun, our last trip Cleghorn was the last leg from Big Bear.

Have fun with it!

I do have to say, I cheated with mine; I bought someone else's hard work. The only work I've done is install a CB in the lower DIN slot under the radio, change the oil, put a new steering stablizer on and pay someone else to do the Birf's. Yes, I lack the satisfaction of doing it myself (which I actually really love), but the up shot is I probably saved about $6,000 in mods. I learned that lesson after putting about $13,000 into my rust-free MGB and selling it for $4,500. :victory:

That is the way to do it! I also love to do the work on my rigs, but if you can pick one up done the way you like it can save you a ton of cash! I bought my current expo rig with all the performance, electronic and mechanical goodies in place and have only done suspension and lights. I still have all the pride in it. Just a lot less cash...:sombrero:
