Install Of ARB Fridge 12v System

All, I love my ARB Fridge, it works great on my Zamp 600 watt 110 inverter! I have having trouble running it on my 12v outlets on my camper trailers? What am I missing? The manual talks about a special plug? Have not found this yet? Any suggestions would be great so I can keep it cold while driving and not running the inverter. I dont mind when I camp to run the 110 inverter because the Zamp Solar keeps the charge?

Any Ideas?

Welcome to Expo!

The ARB is a great fridge (I have one that is 15 years old now and still running great) but notoriously picky about voltage. If you are having problems running it in your trailer it could be because the wire run is too long and/or the wires are not big enough.

Lots of folks have this issue. Just because the open circuit voltage looks fine doesn't mean it will be able to run the fridge.

Welcome also..

I second what pugslyyy said....could be too long of a run for the wire size....also make sure you're using a good quality outlet. I don't think they're rated for more than 10 amps....but your fridge should pull no more than 4-5 tops.

Running an inverter to run a fridge is an inefficient way to do the same thing . Try making up a temp lead from the battery with a #10 Guage wire and see how that works. From what I understand the undervoltage detector is pretty sensitive on the ARB's

ARB offers a wiring kit to address this problem. You need sufficient current and the factory wiring doesn't allow this.

Do you have a battery in your trailer, or are you powering your outlets from your tow vehicle?

If you have a battery in the trailer and it's fully charged I'd agree with others that it seems like your wire gauge is too small. Depending on how far the outlets are from the power source you are going to need 10 or 12 gauge wire. Make sure you fuse the system :)
