intro and my off road trailer

Hello from Decatur, Alabama. First, let me say... this site is awesome. great info everwhere i look. now alittle about me.

I love the outdoors... camping, offroading, etc. I've recently(the last 2 1/2 years) converted my wife over to offroading and camping. I tried every hobby known to man so that my wife would do it with me. finally got a yamaha Rhino and I hit the jackpot. She loves it... which means, i get to do it and upgrade/build stuff for it b/c she wants me to. :victory: so, i'm basically on a smaller scale than most everyone here. as a matter of fact, the searches i've done on here suggest most are against UTV's or side by sides b/c of the cost vs. a sami or tracker. which is ok... i'm still going to hang around. :ylsmoke:

anyways.. we have a toy hauler, which is great. But, it's a bit much to take along when i'm by myself. So i thought i'd build a trailer that we would use for big events... but, now it's going to be more of a carry-all for us/expedition trailer for me. We're also in the middle of a makeover... making the Rhino a 4 seater. so, it will be nice to have the extra cargo room. i've been researching off road trailers for quite awhile.. for reference while building my little trailer. i'm still working on what i want to add to it... but, it's ready to go as a basic trailer. here are some pics of the build:

built a small box..

then added the a-arms, tabs, shocks, etc...

hitch so the trailer would swivel:

and then with the spare tire carrier:

and my idea for the grille:

the brackets on the inside of the trailer...

and the grille that it holds...

to be continued...

edit: i forgot to add a pic of the trailer finished(still needs paint)...

Nice work and very cool use of some factory UTV suspension :)

How does it tow? Handle the rough stuff pretty good?

thanks pc... i've pulled it around the neighborhood, but i haven't pulled it on the trails yet. pulls nice. doesn't sway back and forth or anything. sandblasting is next week... then i will be taking it to the closest park to truely test it.
