hi everyone im new to the forum so i thought id introduce myself.

first off i gota say that this is an awsome forum. its not full of bs and a holes like some of the other 1s out there. u guys are here to talk about expedition travel and general 4x4 and not just bash on each other. im looking forward to getting to know all of you and to learn alot from every 1 here. and hopfully i can contribute my own knowlege to any1 that needs it.

Ok its kind hard to write about urself but here it goes:
my name is Carlos and im 23. currently working as an operator at a chemical plant. it was my first choice as a career but ive recently changed my mind and hope to quit and be back in school by next spring.i live in the small town of Port Lavaca on the southeast Texas gulf coast about 1 hour north of Corpus Christi. ive been into 4x4 and cars in general since i was 13. being that i live in Texas i dont have many oppourtunities to do any expedition travel but its something that really interests me. im an avid outdoorsmen. i love to fish, camp, hike, and just be out of civilization in general lol. i currently drive an 02 seirra z71 lightly modded. i use it as a daily driver and as my temporary expi vehicle. im trying to get my hands on an 80's model K5 blazer to turn into a true expedition vehicle but thats still in the works. as im sure you can tell by now im into full size chevrolets :smiley_drive: but i do love toyotas and nissans. i have a few buddies that wheel them and have nothing but respect for them. just prefer the full size scene cuz ive been around it my whole life and i know them like the back of my hand. also when your 6 foot 6inches tall its hard to fit in those lil yotas lol.
well that about covers it. i really look forward to gettin to know every1 here and i hope i can contribute to this awsome forum. and all you guys from texas give me a hollar. nice to see im not the only trail deprived individual on this forum lol. i love texas but damn we need some public land!

if yall have any questions let me know.:sombrero:

Greetings... Welcome to the forum.
My expedition rig, if you want to call it that, was a 1993 Chevy fullsize Blazer. The only things I did to it was put a winch bumper with a Warn 12K on the front. It already had the lift and some other small mods when I bought it off Craigslist. The thing went everywhere and was a true beast!

My first few expeditions south of the border went well so i decided to take a few months off and drive down to Panama. Well, she made it down as far as Puerto Angel in southern Mexico. To this day, her burned out carcass still sits, forever watching sunsets. She's probably providing shade for the numerous stray cats and dogs. Tiz a long story better left for a camfire with copious amounts of Pacifico.

Anyways, I just bought a 1987 K5 of craigslist. Its a work in progress. But Im liking the solid axles compared to the 1993 IFS.

Good luck with the build.
