Inverter/Charger LCD Display ?

I have all the bells and whistles for my Magnum. Useful to allow me to adjust the profile for different batteries should I ever change and also allows me to throttle back the shore power charger to 15A when plugged into a normal outlet. Not familiar with the Victron, but my instinct is to go with the most flexible option available. YMMV.

Requires Color Control GX or Venus GX.

Which then lets you get to it over the net via your phone, from anywhere in the world.

i looked at the magnum when you emailed me the link. i spoke with them on the phone and the tech said that i needed the 3000 watt model inverter/charger to match the charging profile of my lifpo4 batteries. that was to much inverter for me. this 2,000 is to much. i only needed 1,000 watts but is what it is. better to have the capabilities then need them.

Seems odd to me. I have the 2000w model, and, unless I am mistaken, I can set up any profile I want. Indeed, I am using a custom profile with my AGM's right now. But, to your original question, I would spring for the fancy display for the Victron if it gives you more flexibility.

my thoughts exactly. i got the LCD with display. cost more but seems a whole lot more convenient and flexible. as far as the inverter/charger, when i originally called Magnum i inquired about the 1,000 watt model and the tech told me it wouldn't work with my Starkpower Lifepo4 batteries and that i needed to get the larger series. he may have very well said the 2,000 model would work but at the time that was double what i wanted so i had to pass. one thing led to another an i ended up getting a victron battery monitor in my travels so i decided to stay with Victron for compatibility and service and purchased an inverter from them as well.

this is for anybody reading this who is about to get the Victron Color Control. the monitor doesn't come with any of the wires you need to set everything up. i guess they do this to cut down cost. the average person wont need all of the wires its capable of using so they just give you the monitor then you purchase what you need separately. Of course i found all of this out this morning, the day i planed to install everything. oh well, my fault. i should have called ahead of time but i didnt, lesson learned.

so, if your like me an plan to go with a Victron Inverter, Victron BMV series Battery Monitor and the Victron Color Control Monitor you will need a RJ45 Cat5 Ethernet Cable that connects the inverter to the control monitor. you will then need a VE Direct cable that connects the BMV713 to the Control Panel. the control monitor itself is powered via stab connection in the back using a 1a fuse.
