Is the Photo Equipment Supply Chain Totally Broken?

Every Miles A Memory

Expedition Leader
A friend of mine owns a camera store in Wyoming (Wyoming Camera Outfitters) and I called him asking when they were going to start taking possession of the much touted Canon 200-400 f/4 IS USM with the built in extender. It would make my 400mm f/2.8 go on the sales block and I'd sell a few other things to get one as soon as I could.

He told me that due to the Tsunami, Canon and many of the other suppliers have not even given them dates as to when they can start ordering.

He said they were worried because they were trying to order light to start out with because they were new. Then they found out about this and Canon basically says that they wont be making anything new this year.

So what is on the shelves is what you get.:Wow1:

New items that were being talked about like that 200-400 f/4 will be put on hold for another year meaning it wont be available for another 2 years :(

Plus, the stuff that is available all went up in price considerably!

I was pretty surprised when I read that article to see that the 14-140 was out of stock. That's a pretty core item for m4/3 users.
