Is there a solution to moisture in headlight?

We just picked up a new 04 Disco and someone put daytime driving lights in with Xenons . . . the left headlight has moisture buildup. Any recommendations?

many thanks!

You could drill a hole at the top of the glass for moisture to escape, then drill at the bottom to drain. I read someone did that on another forum. Seemed to work pretty well.

The 04 lights have 3 vents in them already. All covered with little rubber elbows. I'd check that the elbows are not blocked for some reason, and that they are present, and pointing down. Sealing the holes is probably not the right was to go. They are designed to breath for a reason. I would suspect that there might actually be water pooled in the bottom of the light. Due to it's construction, there can be a small pool in the bottom that you can't see from outside, and that will cause condensation.

Another thing to check, all the bulbs are accessed by screw on covers sealed with rubber o-rings. Make sure the covers are secured properly, and the o-rings are in good shape.

After washing mine out, I got the water out through those open covers, and left them open for drying. Then closed it up, problem gone.

I got swamp water in mine during a deep water crossing, and the problem persisted for a year until I removed the light and cleaned it all out with fresh water. Then I got as much water out as possible, and left them to dry overnight near a furnace vent. Problem is gone.

Beyond that, I must think you have a sealing problem betweeen the lens and the black rear body shell, which is going to be hard to diagnose and fix.

FWIW I've had reasonable success in using Isopropyl Alcohol for the final rinse when cleaning H4 lens/reflectors. Rinse with water and do your best to remove it from the light, then use the IPA for one last rinse. The alcohol emulsifies any water left and helps carry it away more easily.

I did that successfully in my Hella FF1000's, but it did damage inside the LR lights. They went cloudy in some places and hasn't cleared.
