It's Hot CoCoa time!

Basic Hot Cocoa using the package directions on the Hersey can is great. I love that I can control the amount of sugar, for health reasons and because most mixes are way to sweet for my taste.

But I'm sure this is only the intro to a whole world of chocolate beverage goodness. Post up and share your favorite brand of Cocoa and what you like to add to the basic recipe.

One of my favorite additions is a nice glug or two of 100 proof peppermint schnapps. We call it a Snowshoe around here. It's like drinking a hot peppermint patty.

There was an excellent and LONG thread about hot cocoa on here, I'd search but it sucks to do that on the iPhone.

I remember a lot of guys raving about some Mexican cocoa that was only available at international stores. And of course all the adult hot cocoa recipes. For ease of making some just dropped peppermint patties or butterscotch directly into their drinks. Then their was the whole mini vs regular marshmallow discussion...

It's a new season, so why not a new thread?

BTW I'm a whipped cream guy, I prefer it over marsh mellows.

I really like the Nestle Mexican Abuelita stuff. It's a puck of cocoa mix that you cook into milk. Great with your choice of spirits, too :)

When I'm out winter camping I like to drink a cup of cocoa with a pad of butter in it before bed time. Then that gives me warm fluid and some fat to burn while I sleep. I doubt it keeps me any warmer but its something I was taught years ago and have always done it.

I have never heard of this, but definitely sounds worth trying! Supposed to be below freezing in North GA this weekend - perfect time to test it out. :REOutCampFire03:
