Oh wow. Hope they approve the bill.
It shouldnt cost more than $2k to fix. The actuator itself costs $800. The t-case has to be split open to properly replace the actuator. So i will give the dealer a generous $1000 for labor. So should cost no more than $2k.
Call a few dealers and ask them how much to replace the actuator. It should be in their service books and they should give you a quote easily. You can show the insurance company your quotes and go to thr chepeast dealer if the insurance is giving a hard time to pay.
Who in paying for the repair? The non Toyota dealer that you purchased your 4runner from?
Today I should know 100% that the repairs will be approved. I got into a little argument yesterday with the dealership I bought from because they are saying once repairs are approved it will be another week! And now I am getting the whole story, they sold me a vehicle that they actually knew there was a problem with the 4lo. They somehow get some reassurance from local Toyota dealer saying the flashy, beepy light is normal. Now they recognized there is a problem and is willing to take care of it, BUT they are running it through the extended warranty WE bought. My point is if they weren't so greedy they would have fixed it before it was put up for sale. Now they have had it for over a week, the Toyota dealer wants $3300!!!! to fix it, so the extended warranty company sends out a rep to the Toyota dealer to take pictures....etc..now this is getting out of hand. So I will know today if repairs are approved. Then they are saying the only actuator available is in Kansas and its going to take 3-4 days to get it to CA. I asked if they could overnight it if repairs were approved and they said the warranty wont cover that!!! Rad, they wont spend $60 to keep a customer happy. All this because its easier (cheaper) for the dealer to do repairs through a warranty that they have sold to someone.
OK enough rable rable rable. Rant over. Now I wait.....again.
