I am looking at buying a tire carrier from JCR. Does anyone have any info about them? Complaints, reviews positive or negative. They look very well made. Also thinking about buying some sliders?
Thanks

check over on naxja, in there vendor area. the only bad thing i heard about JCR was the customer service, but that was when they were understaffed. other then that i hear there great. i'm going to them when i have money.

I have their bumper / carrier. NO problems as yet and very well made!

Purchased mine unpainted and had it powder coated locally.

tire carrier

xjintx, does it totally block your view. I noticed that the proto fab one is located to the drivers side a little more.

JCR is semi-local to me (an hour away), and I have bought a couple things from them over the years, and have also had them do custom work for me. I visited their shop about 4 months ago to pick up some used Ravine wheels, and Brian and Daryl gave me the grand tour. Great guys!

I have never been an XJ guy, but their XJ quarter panel armor is the nicest I have seen anywhere. To see it in-person was very impressive.

I'd highly recommend them based on my personal experience. You'll also see a lot of feedback about JCR on greatlakes4x4.com, a local Michigan wheeling site.

Keep in mind that ordering something from JCR means waiting a little while to get your stuff, since everything is handmade to order. A lot of the 'customer service' complaints that people see are due to customers who ordered something not understanding that they are a very small-staff, hands-on manufacturer, and that it sometimes may take weeks for your stuff to get to you.

The nice thing about it is that they're very willing to modify pieces to fit your needs and desires. Need some threaded bungs to mount lights/CB antennas? They can put them in. Need backup lights on your rear bumper? They'll french them in. As long as you've got the coin, they've got the ability and the willingness to do it for you. It may take longer to get your stuff, but it's well, WELL worth the wait in my opinion.

I cant speak for the sliders or the tire carrier, but I have ordered other XJ parts from them, mainly my nutstrips and my lightbar. They are a great company, and their products are excellent! Tough, and well built. Everything I got came as raw steel, but you ca easily paint it yourself. YOu do have to wait a while (I bought my lightbar on their black friday sale in november, i got it yesterday), but the stuff is definitely worth the wait. IM goin back to the when i get sliders and maybe even a tire carrier. Great products, well worth the time and money. :D

they're a good company. haven't bought from them, but they support Naxja and the XJ community at large, so...I don't think you'll go wrong.

Also consider Logan's metal products. I have their front bumper on my XJ and plan on getting their rear bumper. They make a nice reinforced plate steel rear bumper with tow points, and a swing-a-way for about $750.00 shipped:

Pretty good pricing seeing how JCR's setup is about $850 - $950.00

I am 120% satisfied with their products and customer service from delivery packaging to install, to the robust, stout, protective quality that their bumper imparts to my Jeep. My front end is VERY well protected.
