Jeep JK Brake Squeal After Replacement

Hi All,

I have a 2013 JKU, two weeks ago I had my rear brakes replaced (new pads, resurfaced rotors) and they're squealing like crazy!

It's driving me nuts and making quite a scene driving down the road. Has anyone had this kind of issue? The shop that did the work changed the pads to a different material last week (just a week after they did the job the first time) said it was all fixed and w/in hours it started squeaking.

Any thoughts on this? I'm ready to take it back a third time but is there some kind of break-in period where brakes do this?

Thanks for the tip, I read late yesterday that it's likely still within the break-in period. 400-500 miles, the guys at the shop should have said something about that, esp after they changed the pads from the initial brake job. Luckily it seems to have stopped squealing for the most part.

Brakes are fairly easy to take off, inspect and replace, maybe take a the tire off and take a look at them? The breaknin period should only last a couple of days.

The anti rattle clips could also be broken or the pads could be glazed over.

Thanks, I've given them a once-over and as the instructions I found online state it's likely just the break-in period. Since I'm around 400 miles since they've been done, it's quieted down considerably.

Insepct and replace it is neccesary.
