Attached are some pictures of our recent tour of the Ghost Towns & 4x4 Trails in the San Juan Mountains near Silverton, Lake City & Telluride. (In viewing this forum, this seems to be a very popular area this Summer

My girlfriend has recently relocated to SW Colorado and has purchased a 2009 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon after her 1998 TJ was starting to age. (this is her 3rd Jeep and has never owned another type of vehicle). We decided that a long weekend of touring the San Juans was inorder to break the new "RUBI" in... She even let me drive some! :wings:

Our first trek was the Alpine Loop which leaves the Silverton/Ouray area and heads over Engineer Pass to Lake City, Then returning Via Cinnamon Pass on the southern side (as we drove it). We camped at Burrows Park along the Cinnamon Pass Trail to complete the loop. The 3rd day consisted of driving to Telluride for lunch & rueben sandwiches via the Ophir Pass and returning to Ouray along the Imogene Pass Trail.

Here are some pics from Engineer/Cinnamon Pass Trails:

Awesome trip. As a CO native, I have yet to hit those trails on that side of the state.

Thanks for the pics

Thanks All.... Yes, a beautiful place. It's making it difficult to think about returning to Tennessee.

Great photos and fun trip. That's a really neat place to explore. If you get a chance, go check out the area near Great Sand Dunes National Monument. Beautiful terrain and not too far from Jaws/Jaws II which are some more moderate/extreme trails in the area. :)

Thanks for the tip JPFreek...

I've been to the Great Sand Dunes NM before, but never to 'wheel or explore. We'll put it on the schedule for next visit.
