Thanks for all the feedback!!

I am not trying to jump the jeep. Flip it, etc, but yea. I spend a lot of time out towards Telluride. Drive by left hand canyon a billion times, but never the desire to go there. Maybe to camp, but really I know this with give me hell, but if there is a rock and a pull around in front of me to get to where I want to go I will go around. I will flex the jeeps at times, but more to get to where I want to be. I know what a jeep can do, but I know what I want to do. Water crossing, hahahah different story. That never gets old.

One thing I really love about the AEV Bumpers... front love the look, rear love the fuel caddy. May only use it a few times, but its a nice clean effective look.

*edited because torn between 2012 ripp charger or hemi.

Thanks guys! After thinking about it I am pulling the trigger on A. Getting the AEV 3.5 this week. This is more my style and leaves room for 37's if ever.

I live near you and set up my rig for longer, over landing type trips. It is also my DD. I am currently running the AEV 3.5" lift with 35" tires and it is fine. I'm upgrading the shocks to adjustable Kings and hydraulic bumpstops to further dial in street vs trail performance. I have a hemi, so there is extra weight on the front, spacers help, but not enough. I also have a lot of accessories (bumpers, winch, Gobi rack, Tire carrier, etc) that add more to the weight. I also often pull an offroad trailer. I'm now going to 37's so am swapping axles to PR44 front and PR60 rear along with new gearing. I'm not sure how far you will eventually take your mods, but if I had to do it over again, I'd start with the 4.5" lift.

I love my Metalcloak setup.

Another option if you are running 35's is to run tube fenders and they will clear no problem.

The stock JK control arms are pretty good. You can always add stiffer springs and shocks of your choice later.

This is what I'll be going with when I put a lift in. I doubt it'll be cheaper, however when it's all said and done, I think I'll have a better quality of product. I don't do rocks... it's all DD and mild wheeling. But I want to do it 'right' the first time around and do not want to half *** it only to replace something down the road.

I've been wanting to purchase the AEV kit also. I understand the complaints, but I haven't ever heard of one dislike by an actual consumer who has purchased their suspension for a JK. I think that says something.

I'm down to AEV 3.5 with Kings, or MetalCloak with Kings.

We have the 2.5XT, brackets, and 33" AT's on our '12 JKUR precisely because of it's combination of on road and off road manners.

It drives way better than stock on the street - no brake dive, no bump steer, crisp handling in avoidence manuvers, yet it takes on the typical overlanding type trails with ease. It's my wife's daily driver, and it's also taking on the majority of our weekend fun that the Power Wagon used to do. Getting that extra 6 mpg sure makes a difference, and the Jeep is almost as capable as the big truck.

We had it thru basket ball size mesa top bloulders with no problems as far as the brackets go. Typical AZ washboard roads are smooth as glass - the perfectly matched shocks and coils flat out work. By sticking with a 33" tire, we avoid all the known axle issues, and the punkin' clearance is still very good. Obviously, it's way better than my Power Wagon on 35's due to the difference in the axles, so for me, it's really easy to get thru stuff.

Not adding weight was and is a priority, so after looking at a lot of front bumper I settled on the LoD Armor Lite - nice steel bumper that only weighs 31 lbs. When funds allow, I'm looking for an aluminum rear bumper.
