Dave sent me an email last week saying he had room at Juniper Springs Group Campground if Tracy and I were interested. Heck yea we are interested. We already had plans to be in the area on Friday so it worked out perfect.
Tracy and I left Norco at 6:30pm on Thursday 7-21. We headed up the hill and spent the night in Heart Bar Yellow Post Site #7
At 7am on Friday morning we took the Jeep down to 1N45 and fished the Santa Ana River until 5pm. We ended up keeping 10 trout for dinner Friday and Saturday nights.
At 5pm we headed to Juniper Springs Group Campground to meet up the the clan for the weekend.
On Saturday morning we headed for 1N01 and took the spur up to Onyx Peak. Onyx Peak has the most awesome Juniper Trees in the SBNF.
After Onyx Summit we headed for 2N93 Wildhorse. We had lunch at Wildhorse Meadow and we were back at camp at 2pm.
Dinner Saturday night was potluck and what a meal it was!!!!!
Dutch Oven Apple Cobbler
For desert we had Pie Holes. You cook a biscuit over the fire on a special pie hole utensil and fill it with yummy stuff. Mmmmm Good.
On Sunday morning Tracy and I said our goodbyes around 11am and headed for 3N16 and Holcomb Valley. We bounced around on 3N02, 3N10, 3N32, 3N07A, 3N07 and 2N09 before having lunch at Maggios in Big Bear. After lunch we spent the afternoon at Jenks Lake.
We got home at 5pm. Another fabulous weekend in the forest.
