After hanging in the garage for 7 years I decided it was time to get my kayak back out on the water. Part of the reason was I didn't have a rack to transport my kayak so I bought a Sherpak car top carrier to transport it on the roof of my Jeep. I headed out around 700a from Henderson, NV to Willow Beach, AZ. and was on the water by 800a.
Water temp was the mid 50s and skies overcast. When I put in at Willow Beach I started paddling upstream with no idea how far I would go. I have never gone all the way to the dam before, but the weather was nice, the sun had come out and I was feeling good. I ended up about a half mile short of the bridge because the current as I got closer to the dam was kicking my butt after 11 miles of paddling. Took a break on a sand bar, enjoyed the view and and started paddling back downstream. Even though I was paddling with the current, the 22 miles was tough and I feel it this morning. Definitely worth it though.
