2.0-2.5 liter diesel, 6 speed manual, make all the panels aluminium, change the frame to a lightweight box section.

Of course then you would have a defender. ;)

yep - but i'm trading the JKU for a Diesel as soon as they come out.. (if they come out).. the 90 is becoming the play thing (q7tdi is too short in the load area for me to buy the wife i new truck and take it over)

As i make plans for what i want to do.. the jeep is more relevant (shops, off the self stuff that i don't get Fab'd by my 90 guy, mileage, etc).
If a Defender came out i'd prob get that with the same specs (diesel, 5 door, 8sp auto) but its looking like jeep will do it first..

As stated above, just buy one before 2016. I got lifetime warrantees on mine. Who cares what the "new ones" may look like in 10 years? Mine will always be in style!

I had thought about doing this, but the Jeep dealers here are some of the worst I have ever dealt with. The right front shock on my Jeep was leaking and at 5 weeks later, still no replacement shock. 5 weeks for a shock, that is not acceptable. I decided to put a small lift on and went in to get a different part for the Jeep and fix that problem myself. One of the service writers saw the lift and said "Nice Jeep, too bad you void the warranty with your lift", I see no reason to deal with that BS, so I did get a USAA warranty to 100k and after that, I will just deal with what ever happens or get a new Jeep. Still waiting to get my transmission/PS recall done.
Plus in 4 months the closes dealer will be 1 hour away.

I have personally toasted more ifs setups then solid axles. There are reasons I dont own pickups anymore because if ifs. With the state of most roads where I live, on road is off road and off road is extreme.

HAHA, sorry...but this statement is so overly dramatic I have to laugh a little. Your listed as living in the Grass Lake Area......not really any more EXTREME than roads in any other Northern State, and Definitely not the worst in Michigan. Thanks for the laugh though....unless Southeastern Michigan has become The Rockies and I somehow missed it....then well, my apologies.

Potholes that brake lower control arms on buicks. That reminds me of some spot in Colorado.
