I need some help in connecting a GPS receiver top my Kenwood TM-D710A.
I purchased and installed Garmin GPS18x LVC receiver. The GPS unit is powered by a separate 5.0v regulated power supply. I have connected the power supply and verified that it is delivering the proper output voltage. The GPS RCV wire (green) is connected to the data out connection (red) on the TMD710A and the GPS TXD (white) is connected to the data in connection (white) on the TMD710A.
I went into the radio’s set up screen for GPS and inserted my call sigh, opened the GPS port to the GPS input setting , set the beacon to auto, and set the GPS baud rate to 4800. I have no indication that the GPS is on. In addition, when I check the My Position screen on the radio, it shows zeros for both latitude and longitude.
Any suggestions?
