Man of the Mojave
So, after a nice long month straight of working. I got away to Kernville for the day and did some wheeling and fishing. It was cold over night, so I picked up a lil buddy propane heater. The trails were fun, but nothing too difficult. It was a blast fly fishing up there. The river was way down and I am honestly surprised I caught anything. I still thing this is my favorite place in the whole world. So I got off work and headed up to the mountains which was a 2.5 hour drive and grabbed some chow at the Kern River Brewing Company (great food, friendly folks and awesome BEER!). After dinner and catching up with a few of my friends in town I headed down to the river for bed. I recently bought a new tent from Front Runner that I used on the trip. It sure made for a good night's sleep up there in the tend next to the slow trickle of the mighty Kern river. When I woke up I headed over to visit my friends at the Kern River Fly Shop for some new flies and a fishing report. So with fresh flies in hand I headed up to my favorite spot for some exploring and fishing. The fishing was fun, but the heat made it hard to find big fish. Most of the ones who survived the low water and heat were too small to mouth my flies. I did do OK at by the end of the day. I headed back to town for dinner which was great again.
So another great trip for the record book! It was a shame to see Lake Isabella down so much and the South fork bone dry, but atleast I am in America this year to enjoy it.
Here are my best pics from the trip.
