Kid Specific Overland run

I have looked around and have not found any overland trips geared toward travelers with Children. There are quite a few of us on here and I was thinking it would be fun and advantageous for a few of us to get together and plan one. I am 25 years old and currently the Father of 3 kids ages 5,3 and 1. I live in Clarkston, Wa (Southwest Washington, near the Oregon, Washington, Idaho Boarder.) I would be up for a trip in the Northwest or Utah/Colarado, But anywhere would be fun as long as it includes some fun trail and good sights and experiences for my children/wife and I.

Load the kidlets up and go.

Seriously anywhere you go can be fun with kids if you make it. We have done everything from mild mountain roads to Pritchett canyon in Moab with our little ones. They adapt way better than most people give them credit for.

I think the way you prepare for the trip and your attitude with the kids while you are on the trip means a lot more than the destination. Stop a lot, be patient. Give them time to run and decompress and you will have an enjoyable trip no matter where you go.

I was thinking more along the lines of getting adventures families together. I think that you're right, kids are more adaptable than people give them credit for. Also I wouldn't hesitate to take my kids on any trip that I am comfortable doing. I was just seeing if there is any interest in a trip where every expo vehicle has a few kids in it.

It seems we always travel in large family groups. If you are planning a trip through Utah, give me dates. We are always looking for something to do. The last trip we went on, we had 9 kids in four rigs.

I agree.

One possible direction to consider is that people usually know a few good short routes in thier local area that can be custom tuned as to length and difficulty, along with POIs.

Maybe some sort of ala carte system would work. You post for guide/cotravelers in a specific area. For instance, if you came to SoAZ, given sufficient time, I would be happy to plan a local area route and come along with my children. I couldnt make such plans outside my pre-run area. I would then be asking others for suggestions.

Thanks for extending the invitation, I will let you know when we plan a trip though Utah. Right now the only trip lined up is going to be Cruise Moab next April.

How soon can you go? We will be holding this event in Northern Utah next week.

Sadly, we will out of town next week, but that does look like an awesome trip.

I would also like to say to any travelers heading to North Central Idaho to shoot me a PM if you need a guide/co-traveler.
