so, I think I found who I'm gonna go with for the front and rear (w/multicarrier)bumpers for our 04 2500 crewcab...kma. Anyone familiar with their work or own their products? I'd appreciate some feedback before I go ahead with the purchase.

The only thing that's stopping me from ordering a setup for my truck is the fact that the company repeatedly gets bashed for taking months to actually fill an order, its nearly impossible to actually talk to anyone once you've given them money, and some have had quality/fitment issues. Maybe things have changed recently, but I'm not willing to put up that kind of money to find out...

yeah, they told me that it would take 6-7 weeks so the time frame seems to be mentioned early on...not sure though if this time frame gets extended regularly.

The prices still weigh heavily in their favor.

My experience

I have been PMing Trav about this but figured I would go ahead and post up here for any others shopping KMA. I bought my rear bumper from Kennesaw Mtn a couple years ago now. It has been durable and I have had no issues since mounting it.

When I placed my order Kyle was about 3 months out on his projected completion. Perhaps a bit less than that, my memory is foggy. I do know that they contacted me when they were running late and they finished it 9 days off their initial estimate, which was not bad in my opinion, especially so since they let me know. When the bumper arrived I found that Kyle had forgotten to weld on the D rings. I contacted him about it, he apologized, and shipped them to me that week. When the rings arrived I took them to a local shop to have them welded on, and then sent KMA the bill. They, in turn, reimbursed me for the cost. As far as my transaction went, I can not complain.

Now, the finish of the bumper itself was O.K., definitely not up to ARB standards. I had to take a sanding wheel to "break" the edges of the steel, since it was all quite sharp, and some of the welds had spatter to clean up. The biggest surprise though was having to drill holes for the mounting bolts. I figure KMA builds enough of these that they should be drilling or torching the appropriate holes but, no. So be ready to burn through a couple of drill bits. After cleaning things up, I repainted the bumper and treated the top surface with heavy duty roll on bed liner, as well as the backside of the bumper where stones would get kicked up by the tires. For the price, I guess you got what ya paid for, and us full size rig guys have very, very limited options for what you can get.

If you have some welding skills and body work skills of your own, then the KMA bumper is a great place to start. Check out the work done by KLMORE here in his thread about his own KMA bumper. Great job!

Another mod I did this past year was to add a gas piston to the arm of the tire carrier to keep it locked out when open. Works great.

On to some pics!

I know there are people out there who will slam KMA but I am not one of them. Use the "search this forum" button at the top of the menu here in Domestics and you can find multiple entries under the word "Kennesaw", there are a few full size GM vehicles here with the KMA product.

Word of Wisdom: Don't do it.

I had my own personal experience with him. Still going through it almost a year later. Court is on the horizon after one last chance for him to make things right: http://www.ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=154621

He's sugar and spice until he gets your money, then it's his time and your dime.

If you end up not buying from him tell him it's because of his customer service. If you end up buying from him don't say you weren't warned. I was warned and didn't listen, look at where I am now.

I'll X2 for 02TahoeMD's response.

My front bumper came from them... well not entirely, but the base did.

We modified it post arrival for a few minor fitment issues and to add the headlight/grille guard.

I'll agree... it was a little later (2 weeks) than they quoted. And it wasn't perfect upon arrival. But I had planned to modify it anyways, so it wasn't a big deal to tweak it a bit.
