Lake Lanier Tour

Dr.Grand

Learning as I go
One of my best friends came up with the idea to take a tour of the local lake. Lake Lanier is a man made lake that was constructed in the mid to late 1950s as a way to supply power to the north Georgia area. It is fed by the Chattahoochie (probably butchered that spelling) river through Buford Dam. We started on the South side of the lake (down Buford highway), and stopped in every park that we found on the way. We finished at Two Mile Creek on highway 369 in Forsyth County. All in all we spent three hours, managed to catch some fish despite the chilly weather, put some miles on the Jeep, and got to spend some quality time together. The person in the picture below is friend.

Cool. I haven't spent any time around Lake Lanier since my late teens when a friend had a house perched above the lake. Many wonderful days there.

Cool idea! Any more pictures or tips on which routes to take? Lanier isn't too far from me.

Most roads around Lanier are paved and the area is pretty developed. Nothing really to see unless you like to watch other people boating
