Land rover diesel questions

Ok so I found a clean diesel disco I near me. I have a picture of title showing it is a california registered vehicle with fuel type d on title. Question is what do I look for when I go check it out. It's a five speed. So far I confirmed it is registered as a diesel in ca. It's a 1995 and I know to check shift fork as it is a known issue on diesel rovers for getting pushed through. After that besides check for normal wear and tear I'm not sure of specifics to look for. So who has suggestions for me.

Find local and reputable rover mechanic who knows that engine quick. Which diesel?

300 tdi is the motor.
