Land Rover Discovery rear door ladder

I have heard that some people are using these on their Montero's and they work great - anyone here tried one...?

If so, how do you like it?

I've seen a photo in the past, looked like it worked really well.... but to be honest, I find that if I stand on the back bumper, I can then pretty easily take a step onto the spare tire and then easily on to the roof rack. Standing on top of either rear tire gives me good access to items on the roof as well.

I'm 6'3", with 33" tires.

All of that being said... I do regularly check the photos of discos in my local pick-a-parts place for ladder though, I plan on snagging one if I get the chance.

The disco ones should fit a gen2/2.5 pretty easily.

I know for a fact that it fits great. The only thing I'm concerned about is how strong the internals of the rear door are, at the bottom of the ladder when mounted - whether or not the door can handle the weight/stress of a person climbing on that ladder.

I think the weak spot is the hinges. The disco door is way more flimsy than the montero one and the hinges on those was always the issue on those too. It mounted to the rear door sheet metal with riv-nuts. Not exactly overkill lol.
