Land Rover FC 101

I have a customer that has a Land Rover FC 101 for sale . It's in great shape but I don't know squat about those things . Somebody here must know something about them . How's the reliability ? I'm not sure of the price yet . He's gotten into bike racing and also is loosing his storage so the FC has got to go . I do know it's 12 volt and has the original gas V8 .

Reliability should be about on par with a grey-market Range Rover with similar mileage. Main failure points would be drivetrain - the dual carbs were my headache. Most parts should be available - the (stock) engine is an aluminum V8 originally built by Buick.

For registration, the year is important; they weren't built before 1973 and registering a 1974 or later might be a problem (at least in CA).

Price should be about the same as a similar-condition Pinzgauer, I'd think (and anyone looking at this should also consider a Pinz, which I think is a better vehicle, though somewhat less rare).

British Pacific and/or Rovers North should be able to help you/potential buyers.

They are dead simple mechanically, but quirky at that. If you're really considering buying it make sure to put some miles on it first as the seating position/shifter position/climbing in and out can make it or break it. And don't expect any better than 12-ish mpg, or a comfortable ride! Great trucks though, I will own one someday.
