I doubt the judge was thinking on that level in this case. The judge was likely taking the money for the pain and suffering from the biggest pockets he could find, because after all, auto manufacturers are loaded.

Sorry, didn't indicate the implied sarcasm- especially when talking about Land Rover. However, their pockets are obviously deeper than the kid that caused the whole mess.

I'd be willing to bet that there is an insurance company that will be paying a good sized portion of LR's liability on this one....
