Leveling Kit

So I have been looking into lifting up my Chevy. I came accross a leveling kit that will lift up 3". I am not looking for a tremendous lift just a little to get a bigger tire.

Anyone know anything about them?

Any bad points I should know about?

Thanks.

Hi Printer
Welcome aboard. Well, you are kinda vague about just what kind of Chevy truck you have. There are some differences esp. in the rear suspension. However, if, for example you have a Tahoe or Suburban with the rear coil springs you can do an install like mine. Click here for a writeup I did on it
I gained about 3 inches of lift using new Z71 coils, 2 inch coil spacers, and F150 keys, along with the 33 inch tire. So far, it has served me very well.

But, I would be loathe to use a coil spacer beyond 2 inches without a kit that includes a longer crossbar. I had a hard enough time putting my axle back together with the 2 inch, could not imagine the 3 inch.

Also, you can use F150 pickup torsion keys on the 2000 + up Chevy IFS trucks and save yourself lots of money over buying aftermarket torsion keys.

Browse around some Chevy truck forums and I am sure you will find lots of info on leveling your rig, regardless of year and body style.

Sorry about the vagueness

I have a 05 Chevy Crew cab 1500 Z71 4WD.

Not sure if I wanted to do the leveling kit or the 4 inch lift.

Thanks for looking

You'll have to share the details about the lift kits. A 4" lift will require dropping your differential and lower control arm. It may possibly even come with new steering nuckles. Lots of expense for that extra inch.

3" is about the maximum you can do with an IFS without dropping the diff. And when you do that, complications arise, and the process gets much more complex. Good luck!

That's a pretty extensive kit:

Looks like it will relocate the lower control bars and differential. Nice that it comes with new spindles too. Looks like a nice kit!

I have the BDS 2" lift for the TrailBlazer. I've had good luck with it, so from my experience, BDS is a fine company.

I like to hear that.

Seems like everyone here has been pleased with this company.

Years ago I worked in a Off Road shop and there were very few lift kits. We put on a lot of Superlift kits. Now it seems like there are tons and tons of them.

Been away from the sport for too long...

Thanks for the info
