LightForce HID 240 Blitz for trade test LED's

This idea came to me and no I have not been drinking but perhaps thought it a good way to save money on testing yet another set of light and perhaps helping someone else do the same. Have a high end LED array from Vision X or Rigid Industries or perhaps something as indestructible and similar and curious how the LF 240 with the LF HID conversion will look and perform on your rig? Well as long as there is a similarity in retail price perhaps we can work something out.

My though is that maybe I don't need the punch the 35w HID's offer, as I can only use them on uninhabited back roads paved and not. I keep thinking LED's might be the way I go but just can't swing another high end set of light right now (planning a few trips and building a new to me moto).

Is this even a feasible idea? Sort of like a test drive or demo really.

I have 6 VisionX LED solo pods, 2 spots, 2 floods, and 2 euro beams. I also have dozens of HID lights, but not the lightforce brand as they have a proprietary light bulb socket and cant find them anywhere. They seem like a good light though.

I buy Halogen lights, usually with an H3 bulb, and swap in an HID conversion kit. HID kits are less then 20 bucks a light delivered, and the 50w kits are 10 bucks more. Usually I have 50 to 100 bucks in each HID light.

Comparing the two are hard to do as they are not in the same category. The VisionX solos are 100 bucks each, use 10 watts of power, and put out 900 lumens. They are instant on, and the euros put out a very effective light pattern in front of my quad.

A 35w HID puts out 3200 lumens. The housings you swap them into determines the light pattern, and that's where it gets expensive to buy a quality HID pattern light housing. As you can see, price per lumen HIDs are the way to go. But those little 10 watt LEDs are really good for quads and smaller things.

My buddy has the VisionX 24" bar, and it REALLY lights stuff up! I would get the LED bars in a heartbeat if they weren't so darn expensive. The 48" bars, from what I have been told, are stunning to see in person. The light output is massive and very usable.

I guess it boils down to this, get the LEDs if you can afford them. Get the HIDs if your cheap like me:) I woulnt buy the lightforces as they are a lightforce only bulb setup and cant get spares very quickly.

The HID bulbs aren't or shouldn't need to be replaced often unless if course of some catastrophic failure. Their ballast kit reminds me of the kit from DDM tuning (connectors and ballast are very similar) the blue anodized heat sink is where the money is, and if it wasn't morally wrong I might try and have some machined. I'm guessing the LED's would run the same problem if not being able to use them more often if traffic was present.
