Lockable jerry can holders necessary in Mexico?

I've not had any stolen, but I'm generally pretty remote when down there. When in cities, I try to keep things pretty secure, here or in MX. Something as simple as a cable lock would suffice. You just need to keep an honest man honest, a real theif will get what they want regardless.

I only use them once or twice a year, usually on trips to Mexico. I remove them when not using them, so I don't worry about it here. They would definitely get stolen in the complex I live in. I'll just get a cable lock and run it through the handle and through one of the holes on the base.

I've been south of the border, and around a lot of places. Here is my general philosophy.. If it's worth stealing, it's worth locking. . . IMHO :coffee:

(Speaking from having a trail rig stolen and finding out that it had been taken south of the border to be chopped and parted.

Yep, or plan on never letting it out of your sight. Literally. I eat sleep and drink within site of my truck down there until I get out nice and remote.

Opportunists are everywhere. I won't leave my troopy overnight in downtown Flagstaff without some "extra" level of immobilization....

I've never had anything stolen in Mexico....Albuquerque and Phoenix, yes....

I'd lock 'em though...easy enough to run a cable lock through it and be done...
