Locker doubts

Hello,

Yes, I’ve searched but I havent been able to find a definite answer to my questions.

I have a 2000 Gen 2.5, I would like to install a locker but retain my factory gearing.

I found a 95 SR with a locker and lower gearing, cant remeber right now but I dont want to change gearing.

Can I use that locker on my diff and keep my gearing?

If so apart from the pump, locker ecu and switch what do I need.

I read that I need a different axle shaft, if so from what year?

Thank you!

Yes, you can have the ring and pinion swapped from your current axle over to the locking axle, but it will be easier and cheaper to just find the factory locked axle from a 97-99. You do need the driver side axle shaft for the swap unless you are swapping the entire axle assemble and not just the third member. I have the axle shaft, dash switch, and air pump you need if you decide to do a swap. Why not just swap the complete front and rear axles over from the SR?

Well I found a rear axle assembly for $100.00 which I think is pretty good.

I’ve searched here on the island for a 97-99 parts montero with a locker and they are hard to come by. I thought about swapping both front and rear but I’m doing this in a one car garage and i’m short on space.

I also like the gearing on my Montero, I wont be doing any hardcore off roading but I’d like to have the locker just in case.

But I’m interested in the shaft, pump and switch.

Are you able to ship to Guaynabo, Puerto Rico 00969?
