Looking for a dometic cook top stateside

You may be SOL, but I'll be watching if you find anything. Aerycorp used to supply SMEV (which is also in the dometic line now) state side and market through ebay but that stopped a number of months back. I haven't seen anything else available and have been doing a little bit of poking around lately. Supposedly leisure shop in Europe is willing to work with US buyers on shipping but I don't know what the total costs would tally to.

Some of the US camper manufacturers are starting to use the pyrex covered appliances in their rigs though so perhaps if you had the time available to wait you could see if they'd allow you to add a stove for yourself onto their next order (probably would be cheaper that way and get the model you want as opposed to trying to buy out of their inventory).

Final thought is I've seen a name thrown around here that does a favor for folks like us and is able to order in Sietz windows, thetford cassett toilets, etc. Can't recall who it was off hand (a search on the thetford cassett toilets will bring up the persons contact). Maybe they'd be able to order something in from dometic. I'm not personally aware of what their capabilities are. If they can, with some planning a group buy might be possible to make it more worth their while...

Let me know what you find out, if I pull the trigger on my camper build I've got interest as well.

Here is the thread I was thinking of: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52671

Darren Fink ( RUF http://www.ruf-inc.com/ )

Darrin started handling this hard-to-get stuff (and, importantly, Seitz windows, too) as an adjunct to his own camper builds, but he has helped out several people and--unfortunately, given that he's not really in the business--he's about as knowledgeable as anyone in the country.

So he's worth contacting, but remember that he's doing this as a favor to the community. He doesn't make any money off it, it's not a mainstream activity for him (he has a 9000 acre cattle ranch), and he's not responsible for the fact that the distribution and shipping of these products is often screwed up.

The point being . . . he's a good source, often the best source, and he's worth contacting. But be polite, tolerant of the apparent inevitable delays and mistakes at the distributors' end, tolerant of the fact that much of the stuff has arrived damaged from poor packaging, and mindful of the fact that Darrin does this mostly as a favor to overlanders.

In fact, the hassles with the windows have been so great recently that he told me he's near giving up on them. Which is exactly what we don't need. So use the Darrin resource, but with appreciation and realistic (which is to say lowered) expectations of how well it will go.

I've got a Cramer / Dometic range/sink combo in my Sprinter camper.

It might be expensive, but Steve at Eurocamper.com can usually get anything in the Reimo catalog. Might take awhile, though...

I had him get me a Eurocarry bike rack for my Sprinter awhile back; I waited a few months, but it came eventually.

Cool. How do you find the combo to use? I've mostly been interested in it for its form factor.

It came in the Westfalia Sprinter camper I own, of which 99.9% was built in Germany, and was imported over here under the Dodge/Airstream nameplate for a year or two...
